lectric playboy stallion service auction.
NCHA World Champion Stallion and NCHA Million Dollar Sire, Lectric Playboy arrived onto our sunny (somewhat chilly) shores yesterday morning. It seems appropriate to celebrate his arrival that we launch our first ever on-line Stallion Service Auction.

The Lectric Company have generously donated the proceeds of this Auction to the help raise funds to pay a full time carer to guide our Autistic son Delaney through his first years at school.

For those of you who regularly visit my site you may have read an article back in April where we decided to hold an on line Garage Sale through Ebay to help raise extra money to make up for the shortfall of funding supplied by the NSW Education Department to pay carers to help Delaney settle in the classroom. We had a phenomenal response from members in our local community, donating heaps and heaps of stuff for us to Auction on Ebay. The results of the money raised allowed us to open up a trust account in conjunction with the Tyalgum Public School P&C and put the proceeds in there to help pay for the extra carers time Delaney requires.

We went from having two days a week aid time to four days a week and my wife and myself made up the day to ensure someone was there guiding Delaney full time. The results of us being able to do this has been somewhat remarkable. Delaney is a much happier and more settled child in the classroom, as well as at home. The teacher can now spend more time with the class as a whole and Delaney can get assistance with the things that he find difficult to do because of his Autism. One of the symptoms of Autism is poor muscle tone and fine motor skills. This makes simple tasks like cutting and pasting and writing and all those things very difficult for Del, so having someone there for him is extremely helpful. It also decreases his frustration and heightens his self esteem.

Delaney is now excelling at reading and writing and in the last week of his school term he started catching the school bus to and from school on his own. We are so proud of him for this and I bore everyone I know with this milestone. For a little five year old with Autism this is a big deal!

Because of the positive results we are getting from this we have decided to try to maintain this level of care until at least the end of this year. To do this we have worked out that it will cost an extra $11,000 on top of the $2,000 plus contributed by the NSW Government. So the money that will be raised from this Auction will go a long way to helping Delaney's cause.

My wife and I can't express our gratitude enough to the Lectric Company for their generosity. It's going to be a huge help in us attaining our goal of seeing Delaney grow into an independent, confident adult, who will be able to make his own contributions to the community.
