The Walcha Cutting Club are having a Robbie Hodgman cutting clinic on the weekend of the 31 st May and 1st June. The clinic will be held near Armidale.
For those of you who are new to the sport Robbie Hodgeman is a very well credentialed trainer who was inducted into the NCHA trainers Hall Of Fame in 2007.
After competing as a Youth whilst in boarding School Rob went to the states at the ripe old age of 18 and spent two and a half years riding reined cowhorses. After returning to Australia in 1982 he became a pro trainer. He won the Moonbi Cutting Futurity in 1983 and the Pacific Coast Cutting Classic
in 1984 on Commanders Mark. In 2002 he won the 2002 NCHA Derby on the Australian bred Stallion Doc's Spin City and then went on to win the 2005 & 2006 NCHA Classics on One Hellofa Spin.
Rob and his family set up their current training facilities at "Couralie" which is just twenty minutes from Glenn Innes in 1998. The 530 acre property is a trainers paradise with eight day paddocks twelve stables, two arenas including one indoors.
EB short for El Bocado is also synonymous with the name Rob Hodgeman as it is his brands name. He has set up a very successful breeding programme with his EB horses, with the likes of Eb's Ladyspin, and EB's Kikuyu becoming NCHA Futurity reserve champions and Victorian Futurity Champions..
Rob is always willing to offer the young cutting enthusiasts advice, not only on giving tips about riding, but also making them aware of the pitfalls in the industry in general.
This is a great opportunity to learn from one of the very best. Limited riding places remaining. Enquiries to Fiona on 02 6775 5550 or fmcloughlin@bordernet.com.au .
