The Coolup Cutting Club was born on February 21 st 2009 and we held our first show on the Easter  Weekend April 11th and 12th .

The club is just South of Perth in a place called Coolup.  The local Shire in their wisdom down supplied a grounds big enough to house a horsemans club incorporating the Coolup Cutting Club, Coolup Campdrafting Club, Coolup Pony Club and the Coolup Polocrosse Club.  This facility is huge but basic at the moment.  With a lot of individuals donating their time and love of horse sports it promises to be a great venue for all horse pursuits.

Our first show had a good turn out for us over here in WA, particularly having a Youth Event with 3 competitors who did show hands down with great courage and conviction. One of them, my son, beating his mother for score and good sportsmanship behaviour.  The smiles on the faces of these kids as they left the arena was worth bottling.

We had the largest numbers of competitors on the Saturday in the Beginner 2 Handed events.  Nearly all were first time competitors and have since reported that they are in danger of being bitten by the “Cutting Bug”.  Good news for all of us.

We hope to hold a show on May 16 th and 17 th , then break for the Winter rains and start again on a monthly basis from September Onwards.
