With the NCHA futurity due to start at Fort Worth in just a few days I thought it might be apt to throw a few statistics at you from futurities past. Now these figures have been compiled by a little bald photographer who is just a mere mortal and these figures are subject to error. They have been complied from a list compiled by myself with limited resources. The list has been made available for viewing on this site in the results section. If anyone can recognize any error in this list please do not hesitate to contact me.
OK This will be the 48 th US NCHA futurity. High Brow Cat has sired the last four champions and has sired a total of five NCHA Futurity Champions. Docs bar is second on the list with four. Other Multiple sires of NCHA Futurity Champions are Doc O'Lena (three), King Glo (three), Smart Little Lena (three), Peppy San Badger (two) and Freckles Playboy (two).
Two lots of Full brothers have won the NCHA Futurity Doc O'Lena and Dry Doc (Doc Bar – Poco Lena) and Chickasha Dan and Chickasha Glo ( King Glo – Chickasha Ann). Doc O'Lena, Colonel Freckles, Peppy San Badger and Smart Little Lena are the only NCHA Futurity Champions to in turn sire NCHA Futurity Champions. Lynx Melody is the only mare to win an NCHA Futurity title that has produced an NCHA Futurity Champion. In the Maternal Sires stakes, Poco Bueno, Smart Little Lena, Shorty Lena, Peppy San Badger, Grey Badger III, Freckles Playboy, Doc Quixote, and Chickasha Mike all have two winners each.

This year there are a total of 688 entries of which 24 will be ridden by Australian Riders. There are currently 115 horses that have not been assigned riders so no doubt a few more Aussie names will appear throughout the first go round. Highbrow Cat is the sire of a total of 101 entries with Dual Rey 2 nd on the list with 60. John Mitchell has a total of 5 rides, Darren Simpkins 4, Guy Woods & Sean Flynn 3, Wayne Robinson, Aaron Wheatley, Ed Flynn, and Geoffrey Sheehan have two apiece and Ryon Emerton, and Roger Wagner have one ride each.
