We all know how the Aussies went in the first Go -Round but how about the Sires? Well I guess it depends on which way you look at it. High Brow Cat has the most through to the second Go - Round 43 from the 90 of his progeny that crossed the line. Dual Rey is second with 26 from 57 and then Smooth As A Cat with 18 from 53. A total of 61 stallions have progeny competing in the second Go.

So if you're just looking at sheer numbers then Highbrow Cat is leading hands down. If you look at things in percentages then the list changes radically.
The SIR rating that I use on this site from time to time makes things look a bit different.
The SIR score is a rating that is calculated using percentages. If the Sire scores over 100 then a higher percentage of his get qualified for the second round compared to the number who started.

Naturally if a Stallion has only one or two entries in the starting line up and they all get through then they get the highest score. Here's the list .

How you interpret the list is purely up to you. But it is an interesting guide. Personally I would consider the Stallions who scored 256 as worthy of noting and looking at how their progeny perform in the future. As for the rest of the list I'll leave that one up to you. It's worth noting though, that of the big four, Highbrow Cat, Dual Rey, Peptoboonsmal and Smart Little Lena, Smart Little Lena at this stage of the futurity is leading on the SIR rating stakes.
But these figures have only been taken on the first Go-Round and as has happened in the past this list will change dramitcally by the the time of the final twenty have been decided. |
